About the Event

Brewers: Saturday 28th June at Veneziano – 16 River St, Richmond VIC 3121 (9am to 4:30pm)
Barista and
Latte artSunday 29th June at Victoria Arduino experience Lab – 37 Cecil Street (Cnr City Road) Southbank 3006 (9:30am – 4:30pm)

What:
An opportunity to learn from experienced head judges across all disciplines the skills required to participate in the CCC as a judge. Learning both technical and sensory, judges run through scoresheets, routine assessment, calibration and debriefing with a real competitor.
Who:
Everyone BUT competitors of the Community Coffee Championships, in VIC or other states.

What is the workshop about?

First part: A team of experienced head judges will run through the rules and the scoresheets (both sensory and technical). If time allows, the head judges will prepare calibration sensory exercises for brewers and baristas.

Second part: Participants will engage in a mock run through with a calibration barista presenting their routine. This gives you a change to judge a competitor in a real-life setting and participate in judges deliberation afterwards. Following this, there will be an opportunity for debrief with the competitor and explain your scores. This is designed to replicate what would typically happen during a competition.

Why should you join?

This is an opportunity to meet other talented professionals of the industry. Workshops are a great way to get ready before the competition and ask all the questions you might have ensuring you are comfortable before being on stage.

  • If you are a new judge for the upcoming CCC, it is highly recommended that you participate.
  • If you are still indecisive whether you want to judge or not for the upcoming CCC competition, this is your time to give it a crack.
  • If you are curious and just want to understand the competition better or simply participate to a sensory class, you are welcome to join!
  • If you are a returning judge, you are more than welcome. This is the perfect opportunity to refresh your memory and assist new judges!

This workshop if open to everyone except current competitors or coaches in the Community Coffee Championships, both in VIC and other states.

This is a workshop not an official calibration

If you are judging at the upcoming VIC CCC, this workshop does not replace the mandatory calibration on Friday 4th of July.  This is an optional workshop for you to warm up and be as ready as our competitors!
